How We Match a Taffy Flavor to a Strain

People ask us this at markets and in DMs constantly: how do you decide which candy flavor goes with which strain? Today we open the notebook. This is the actual process behind every MONDAYS pairing.

Step one: the profile comes first

We never start with the candy. We start with the strain's terpene profile, the verified fingerprint of what makes Sour Diesel smell like Sour Diesel. We map the dominant notes: is this profile gassy, creamy, piney, citrusy, earthy? That fingerprint is the design brief, and everything else serves it.

Step two: harmonize or contrast

Every pairing makes one of two moves. Harmonize means the candy flavor amplifies what the profile already does: Concord grape stacked on Grape Gasoline's sweet-fuel signature in Grapes Unleaded, doubling down until the grape is unapologetic. Contrast means the candy pushes against the profile to balance it: smooth banana cream softening Sour Diesel's sharp gas in Go-Go Bananas, or bright tart raspberry cutting through LA Confidential's deep earth in Raspberry Relief. Choosing the wrong move is how you get candy that fights itself.

Step three: the taffy test

Taffy is a slow format. A chew unfolds over minutes, so the pairing has to work in stages: candy flavor up front, terpene character emerging through the middle, and a finish where both land together. We pull small test batches and chew our way through iterations until the timeline is right. Some pairings work on the first pull. Some take a dozen tries and a few humbling failures we do not sell.

Step four: verify and lock

The final blend goes to the lab with everything else. The COA confirms the terpenes are present and every cannabinoid is non-detect, and the recipe gets a code and a batch record so the bag you buy matches the bag we designed. Receipts live on the Lab Results page.

Try the method blind

Here is a fun experiment: take the strain quiz, get your match, and when the chew arrives, try to name which move we made, harmonize or contrast. Once you taste the architecture, you cannot untaste it.
