Sour Diesel came up on the East Coast in the early 1990s, and like most strains of that era, its exact origin is half history, half campfire story. The version most tellers agree on ties it to the Chemdog family line, with the sour part of the name earned honestly: the aroma is sharp, pungent, and unmistakably fuel-like. The story goes that the smell was so loud it announced itself through double bags. That gas-forward profile became one of the most recognizable signatures in all of cannabis, decades before terpene was a word anyone printed on packaging.

What makes it smell like that

The diesel character comes from its terpene blend.
